These tiny blue-grey seeds give baking a nice crunch and can be used in everything from cakes to curries

Poppy seeds are commonly used in cooking in Central and Eastern Europe, where they are sprinkled onto cakes, breads and biscuits or added to pasta, potato, egg or cheese dishes. In India they are used as a spice and thickener in curries.
